I enjoyed listening to the teacher read out of all of them. I found that after they were all read, I remembered the story that the teacher read the best, and I had an easier time visualizing the story.
2. What strategies do you think would help to get more out of the reading methods you didn’t enjoy?
I think when I am reading on my own, I would get more out of it if I could be in a quiet place on my own where I could focus. Once I was in a quiet place I think I would be able to visualize the story better and put my self into the scenerio easier. When my classmates are reading out loud for everyone to hear, I think I would get more out of it if we didn't switch readers as much. That way it would be constantly the same person, with their own way of reading the story.
The Tabor Light:
- I think that the Tabor light is just the reflection of something. It would make even more sense if you were in a vehicle and it was the reflection. If you were just walking thru the cemetary, it could be a reflection off of something near by.
Uncle Ben`s House:
- I think that the family who stays in the house that is considered "haunted", just get all of these scary stories into their heads, and over think everything. There was probably a good explantion for everything that happened, but they only thought of the house being haunted as their explanation.
An Unseen Playmate:
- I think that the kids who seen the swing move "on its own" were either just trying to scare someone else and make up stories, or they were just scaring themselves by thinking it was a ghost moving it. Kids like to exagerate stories, so this might be one.
The Tabor Light Story:
The last thing the local family had ever imagined happened, and suddenly they were planning a funeral. After the tragic death of a son and the fire destroying a great deal of the past, nothing could make that past month any worse. After the funeral was done and finally getting rid of all the clingy relatives, the mother of the boy took one last sit down with her son at the cemetary before the day was over. Sitting there staring at the flowers scatered around around the grave stone and thinking of all the memories she had left of her son. When suddenly an unexplainable light appeared just across the cemetary. There was nothing to do but stand in awe and hope it doesn't come to close. With her heart beating faster and faster, she just couldn't bring herself to look away or break into a run. After a few long minutes of the mysterious light dancing around, it finally stopped. The confused mother took a few long breathes, and decided it was time to leave.
