The Hall Story

The dance teacher, Joy, always tried to tell the girls in the dance classes that none of it was real. She would always make up excuses for the strange noises that kept scaring the girls in the middle of their class. It was always the wind, or just the pipes, but on the inside all the dancers knew that Joy had the same feelings as they did.

It was a snowy winter day, Caitlyn, Breanne, Krista and Courtney got Courtney and Caitlyn’s mom to open the hall so they could do some last minute practicing before the end of the year recital. The girls were practicing their dances, and Kari was just watching, giving some random hints and telling them what they could do to make it perfect! Out of nowhere the girls all heard a terrible noise coming from the basement. It sounded just like a little girl screaming at the top of her lungs. All the girls looked at each other in fear and immediately all huddled in the middle of the room. It was the first time they had heard the scream and hopefully the last. Everyone looked at the oldest person in the room for comfort and hopefully an excuse for the frightening noise, but you could see it in her eyes that she was scared herself.

The only time that the girls ever heard the noise was when Joy was not there. All of the dancers were convinced that the mysterious screams and creepy noises were never going to happen when she was around because she was too brave. She would always be able to convince the dancers that the noises were just wind or the pipes screeching. The girls believed that the noises were the ghosts just trying to scare them, and they knew that Joy would calm them down and not allow them to be scared. Until the one day when Joy was just teaching one of the older classes and all of the noises came back. What made it even scarier was that doors from each end of the hall kept making creepy banging noises from the wind outside. Days went by and nothing seemed to be happening. Stories went around and everyone discussed their ideas on the situation. A few weeks later, at the weekly dance class, the girls were busy dancing and all of the sudden out of no where, the piano started playing that was on the stage. The stage curtains were closed so no one could see onto the stage. Just like when the scream was heard, all of the girls stood there, with fear in their eyes and were all speechless. As always, all of the dancers looked to Joy for comfort, and an explanation. Before Joy could say anything to the girls, they heard footsteps running down the stairs. This time it was only someone trying to play a trick on them... but maybe not next time.
