Ghost Stories of Saskatchewan (Uncle Ben’s House, An Unseen Playmate, Old Faithful: The Tabor Light)
Answer the following questions:
Which reading did you enjoy best (teacher read, classmates read, read to self)? Why?
The reading that I enjoyed most was when I read to myself, because I can read at my own pace.
What strategies do you think would help to get more out of the reading methods you didn’t enjoy (ie: classmates read)
Classmates reading because some people can't read as good as others and some people are quieter than others and some people mummble. The strategies that would help me to get more out of the story is to not let my mind wonder and try to concenrate on the story.
Complete the following:
For each story:
Attempt to explain the phenomenon through scientific and/or logic reasoning.
Old Faithful: The Tabor Light- an explaintion for this story is some person wanting to trick everyone so the person carries around a light.
An Unseen Playmate- It could have been a trick of the wind that was making the swing swing back and forth and when the kids stopped swinging the wind died down to a stop.
Uncle Ben's House- It could have been peoples minds playing tricks on them.
Complete your own background story for Old Faithful: The Tabor Light (see the first few for examples, ie: 1923, 1935, etc...)
It was getting dark when I started back home from work. It was my first time walking home in the dark and I never expected it to be real. It started when I walked past the graveyard, I saw it the Tabor Light. It was real! Not only real but kinda scary aswell. I started to run home as fast as I could. From that night on I never walked past the graveyard in the dark again.
